About the client
Oulan Group has a team of over 250 international experts. Oulan offers services to a number of cities and organisations in Finland. They are the trendsetter of the interpretation business on the Finnish market.
Problem
Customers needed a fast, mobile-first way to reach the right interpreter, but availability lived in two separate back-office systems. Peaks in demand, multi-language needs, and strict privacy requirements made the experience fragile and slow.
Approach
We shaped a streamlined React Native app around the core journey: pick a language, confirm availability, start the session. We connected to Oulan’s existing systems so availability stayed accurate, session data flowed back cleanly, and the entire flow respected privacy-by-design principles.

Cities and organisations rely on Oulan for timely interpretation, often at peak moments. The goal was to remove bottlenecks, give users a clear view of who is available now, and make starting a session as simple as a few taps - while keeping existing operations intact.
What we built
A focused mobile flow that gets out of the way.
The app remembers recent languages and organisations, guides users through a minimal set of steps, and shows availability that updates sensibly in the background. After each session, a quick rating and a personal history help users and coordinators track interactions.
The interface is calm, accessible, and aligned with Oulan’s brand so new users can trust it immediately.

We integrated with Oulan’s two core systems so interpreter rosters and customer context stay in sync. The app handles spotty networks and last-minute changes gracefully, explains when data is stale, and lets users retry without hitting dead ends. Privacy requirements were built in from the start to fit public-sector expectations.
